This year we have an advent calendar in school and a window is being opened every day in assembly. Each window hides a greeting in a different language. On Friday we opened the window for the first of December. We learned that Al Salaam a’alaykum is “Hello” in Arabic. Mrs Lee helped us to pronounce the words because she can speak Arabic. My daughter is currently visiting a country where Arabic is spoken. Do you know where that might be? Today is the second of December. Window number two was hiding Ei Je, this is “Hello” in Bengali. I wonder how you say “Hello” in the other languages on the Advent Calendar? How many different ways can you say “Hello”?
